The biggest takeaways that investors should be aware of are: Mobileye Chairman & CTO Amnon Shashua stated that he has no target for vehicle fatalities. The number of deaths in the U.S. according to the NHTSA was about 35,000 in 2015. However 10,000 deaths was implied to be not good enough. CES 2017 could quietly go down as the most informative event for self-driving in history. The large majority of news came from Mobileye’s press conference in front of a crowd of 150 mostly institutional investors. The News On Wednesday January 4th it was announced that Mobileye and the BMW Group will put 40 autonomous test vehicles on the road by the second half of 2017. The upper luxury BMW 7 series, an early target segment for autonomous driving, will be testing vehicles in real traffic conditions in the U.S. and Europe to begin with. Their goal is to develop a fully autonomous vehicle for production (the BMW iNEXT) by 2021.
